ABOUT

Flore Bretonnière (b. in Tokyo, Japan) lives and works in Paris, France.
My work explores how time moves through the body, our inner lives, and the intimate space of love. Through organic, repetitive or cyclical forms, I attempt to make the passage of time perceptible: flowers bloom and fade, pain transforms, desire accumulates like seconds, shaping our inner worlds.
For me, creating is a deliberate act of life: I create, therefore I live, and I continue while knowing that nothing is eternal.
What we believe to be intangible: our lives, our supple skin, our dreams and our loves, the stories we tell ourselves
is only a brief journey. “This shall pass. This shall pass too.”
I use various media, from Indian ink to watercolors, to create pieces ranging from miniature compositions to more elaborate works.
